Ultrasound has been used during pregnancy for many years. At The Baby Scan Room, scans are carried out responsibly, with ultrasound exposure kept to the minimum necessary and in line with recognised professional safety guidance.
Our scans are non-diagnostic and are designed to provide reassurance and an opportunity to see your baby. They do not replace your routine NHS antenatal care, screening or diagnostic ultrasound examinations.

You can have an Early Pregnancy Scan from 7 weeks onwards. From 8 weeks, we can also estimate the gestational age of your pregnancy and provide an estimated due date.
From around 7 weeks, a heartbeat can usually be visualised on the scan. However, this can vary depending on how early the pregnancy is and individual circumstances.
We will confirm the pregnancy, visualise your baby's heartbeat where appropriate, check whether there is a single or multiple pregnancy, and from 8 weeks estimate the gestational age and due date.

Gender determination is 99.9% accurate from 14 weeks, although no ultrasound scan can guarantee 100% accuracy.
Sometimes your baby may be in a position that makes it difficult to determine the gender. We may ask you to move around or take a short walk to encourage your baby to change position. If we are still unable to determine the gender, we will arrange a complimentary rescan.

The best time to enjoy a 4D baby scan is between 24 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. During this stage, your baby has developed more features while still having enough room to move, giving you the best opportunity to enjoy beautiful 4D images.
If your baby isn't in a suitable position to obtain the best 4D images, we'll advise you during your appointment. Where appropriate and subject to clinic policy, we'll invite you back for a complimentary rescan.
